Another weekend came and my friend was a bit bored staying at home and decided to treat us for lunch. He picked us up past lunch time and drove down to the Fort. A few strolling around before we decided to try dining at The Wholesome Table. We were fortunate to find no line that afternoon at a place that has a notorious reputation of always being jam-packed. The recently opened restaurant is creating quite a buzz in the metro who claims to serve healthy and organic choices.
We entered and immediately were transported to a place of organic haven. They have a very impressive interior that brings coziness to anyone who dines. We ordered some of the most talked about dishes they have:
Our meal started with, probably one of my favorites and really a must try, their Burrata. A delicious small plate of burrata cheese topped with grape tomatoes and fresh basil drizzled with balsamic reduction and served with sourdough toasts.
After it excites our palates, we have to do a follow up, and yet another plate to remember is their Turkey Scotch Egg. It was such a treat to try their scotch egg wrapped in all-natural turkey sausage, breaded and crisp-fried. The plate is served over a bed of kale salad with sherry vinaigrette. It definitely made our mouths water with delight.
From appetizers down to the main course, we ordered the very sumptuous carbonara. We enjoyed the cheesy delight served with cured pork jowl. We were literally having food orgasms as we take every bite of each meal.
After some carbo-loading, comes the protein. We just have to have their pork chops which were perfectly grilled and smothered with sauce and served with roasted potatoes on the side.
The last meal we had is a serving of their protein power bowl made of quinoa, chickpeas, carrots, mixed mushrooms, herbs and bean sprouts in tahini sauce.
