FOR SALE: PhP30,000.00

Part of my growth as an artist is to experience more exhibits, learn from life and apply it to art. Since in school, I was never courageous enough to join an art competition. I do not like the disappointment that comes after not winning. I would usually wait who the winner is and regret I didn't join after; thinking I could've pulled it off better. Me and my ego, maybe. But since I had a boost on my confidence when I started getting compliments for my art, I felt like I can do anything. So when I found out about an art competition, I immediately signed myself in. It was for the 2013 nationwide ASEAN Philippines Painting Contest. The theme was "Our Nation, Our Future Together" and so I thought of things I can illustrate that represent “future and unity”. I came up with the piece I named, "Lukso".

I never really took it seriously though. I just did something for the experience of joining. I thought, if I won't make it, its okay. It's not to win this time but to finally experience joining an art competition.

To my surprise, I got in as a semi-finalist for the competition. Out of the hundreds of applicants nationwide, I was lucky to be chosen as part of the top 30. I didn't win, of course. And surprisingly, it didn't disappoint me. I am happy I was able to join and lucky to become a semi-finalist. Now, the art work will be quite busy for the rest of the year. As it will be part of the promotional materials and subsequent exhibits joining the three winners. It will be exhibited on the following dates and venues:

* 04-11 September 2013, ALumni and Public Relations Hall, Philippine Normal University
* 10-17 October 2013, Edsa Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Ortigas Center -Atrium, Main Wing
* 18-31 October 2013, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) - 2nd floor, Hallway
* 1-30 November 2013, Philippine Information Agency (PIA)
